Sachiko Uozumi has been dedicated to focusing on social aspects of design that emphasizes new design issues since the early 1990s. She specializes in design research and concept development for product development, exhibitions, and education. Her work varies from the sustainable hand curved marble products to the laptop computer color study and the urban playground development. She started Uozumi Design Consulting in New York City in 1999, and has been a faculty member at Parsons School of Designs Product Design Department since 1993. She is the curator / organizer for "Untainted Eyes The Childrens Photography Exhibition" which is currently traveling in Europe. She worked as a project consultant for Dutch Design Events for Dutch Consulate in New York City in 2002 and conducted the future study for learning and working environment for the year 2025 for a Japanese think tank. She was also a key liaison for Material ConneXion in New York City to bring innovative material exhibitions to Japan, a consultant to Gifu Prefectural Government in Japan to promote design, a committee board member at Smithsonian Institution, Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum in New York City, and curator / planning committee member for Human-Centered Design Project at Setagaya Arts Center in Tokyo. She also writes for Japanese design publications. |
