International Design Network Foundation was created to establish and foster international communication and cooperation through design activities, in the belief that responsible and humane design is essential to improve the quality of life for all people. IDNF is a non-profit educational and cultural organization that serves as an information resource center on design and design issues, as well as, a networking service for the international design community. IDNF's audience includes professional designers, corporations, manufacturers, industry, foundations, design organizations, design schools, educators, students, and the general public. A major focus of IDNF's work is the seeking out and encouragement of talented young students considering design careers, and supporting these potential designers in their studies and work by providing information, guidance, and referrals to individuals and organizations in the field.

Providing access to information on design issues, projects, and products around the world through an Internet design bulletin board, a global mailing list, and an ongoing program disseminating information on design, including lectures, professional seminars, and exhibitions.

Building and maintaining a global design library that collects, preserves, and makes accessible printed materials on design, design video, CD-ROM programs, and other electronic or digital resources.

Offering connections between individuals, design projects and design programs, internationally.

Building productive relationships and programs among professionals in business, industry, and design. This includes assistance in developing economic plans and projects, surveying and assessing international trends in design, design management, and design marketing.

Supporting designers by offering marketing consultation services, creating an international data bank on funding, and sponsorship of design activities.
